The CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre [CII-Godrej GBC] is promoting the concept of "Make Indian power plants world class". The main objective is facilitating continuous performance improvement in Indian thermal power plants and thereby achieving world class standards.
Although Indian thermal power plants offer enormous potential for performance and efficiency improvement, the actual implementation takes place at a snail's pace owing to the following major reasons:
-Lack of awareness about the latest performance improvement techniques and clean coal technologies
-Very high dependence on the original equipment suppliers for any plant modifications
-Very limited availability or non-availability of capable service providers for Indian power plants
